ABL-2 trials (broiler)
IMASDE has two Animal Biosafety Level 2 facilities specifically designed for developing infection trials with different microbes listed as Level 2 (moderate hazard). Two types of experimental design can be applied: floor pens (wood shavings as bedding) or 3-bird cages, trials with 2 to 6 treatments and 12-16 broilers per treatment. Laying Hen trials
Facilities are adapted to Council Directive 1999/74/EC laying down minimum standards for the protection of laying hens, with 84 cages for 10 laying hens each, which allows the possibility of running trials with up to 8 treatments and 10 replicates per treatment simultaneously.
